Totem-pole 90-260VAC/400VDC  Power Factor Correction

The 1.5 kW Totem-pole PFC Board is a hard switched single phase bridgeless PFC working in continuous conduction mode at 100 kHz. It is designed to help customers reach and exceed Titanium efficiency using USCi’s SiC cascodes. By exploiting the excellent switching and conduction performance of SiC cascodes, a peak efficiency of 98.6% is achieved at high line (230 VAC) with 400 V DC output. With careful tuning of digital control a total harmonic distortion (THD) of 1.83% is achieved at high line near full load.

90-260VAC/400VDC  Power Factor Correction

The 90-260VAC – 400VDC Power Factor Correction Board is a hard switched single phase PFC. It is designed to demonstrate the efficiency of USCi’s SiC standard drive cascode and diode products for 80 Plus certified computer power supplies. The board uses TI’s average current mode controller, UCC3818, with a frequency range of 6 kHz to 220 kHz. A Mathcad file is supplied for design optimization for a broad range of switching frequencies, boost inductances and power levels.

High Voltage Phase Shift Bridge

The high voltage phase shift bridge demo board demonstrates the performance of USCi’s cascode in resonant bridge circuits.   This performance is achieved by leveraging the excellent RDS(on)-output capacitance figure of merit with the cascode’s industry leading reverse recovery charge.  This phase shift full bridge converts a 700 to 820 VDC input to an isolated 40 to 60 VDC output up to a power level of 1.5 kW.   The board maintains zero-voltage turn-on switching to less than 50% load current under all operating conditions.  Peak efficiency exceeds 96% at a switching frequency of 75 kHz,  800 VDC input, 48 VDC output (Pout > 800 Watts).

Wide Input Range 60W Utility Power Supply

The wide input range of the Utility Power Supply is designed to operate off of high voltage rails (400VDC and 800VDC) that can handle the broadest range of input voltage tolerances (200VDC to 1000VDC). A JFET cascode configuration (UJN171K: 1.7k, 800mΩ) as the power switch provides high efficiency, but also simplifies the startup circuit. The design use a UCC38C41 controller in a flyback topology, and the board is designed to allow modification for a variety of loads.
