Semiconductor Device Engineer – Entry Level

UnitedSiC is a rapidly growing startup company that develops Silicon Carbide based power devices. These devices are increasingly being adopted in EVs and Renewable energy systems. We are seeking a candidate with a BS or MS degree in the field of semiconductor devices, wide bandgap or power electronics.  The candidate needs to have relevant lab/bench experience, be a fast learner, able to work with moderate supervision and perform work carefully, safely and accurately.

Responsibilities

Develop custom circuits, testbeds used for application relevant characterization of power semiconductor devices and modules

Characterize semiconductor devices and modules, extracting relevant product datasheet and compact model parameters

Develop application notes that make it easier for users to extract the maximum efficiency benefit from these devices and avoid pitfalls.

Assisting Application Engineers with testing of application demonstrators, quantifying efficiency benefit of UnitedSiC power switches.

Support cognizant Device design and development engineers with modeling support (TCAD, SPICE, ANSYS etc) as needed

Works across multifunctional team of Device Engineers, Product Engineering and Applications Engineering, reports to Dir. of Technology Dev.

Qualifications

Bachelor EE degree with relevant coursework in semiconductor devices, analog circuits, power electronics + 1-3 yrs industrial experience, or Master’s EE degree with focus on semiconductor devices, power electronics or power packaging & characterization.

Familiarity with power device physics and basic power electronics circuit operation, electronic components and PCB design

Knowledge of basic lab equipment like oscilloscopes, function generators, parametric test equipment etc.

Previous experience with relevant software tools such as TCAD, SPICE, ANSYS, Labview, Matlab desirable
