  • Dr. J. Christopher Dries
    President and CEO

    Chris oversaw the acquisition of UnitedSiC in 2009 and has served as President and CEO ever since. In addition to his capacity as CEO, Chris serves as a member of the Board of Directors and is an Investor in the Company. Chris has been an enthusiastic entrepreneur since completing his graduate studies. He helped build and sell Sensors Unlimited to Finisar Corporation, participated in the buy-back of the business and then subsequent sale to Goodrich Corporation in 2005 where he served as VP of Research and Development of the imaging business. Chris obtained his bachelor’s degree from Duke University and Ph.D. from Princeton University, both in Electrical Engineering.

  • Dr. Anup Bhalla
    VP of Engineering

    Anup oversees all product development at UnitedSiC and became an investor in the Company when he joined in 2012. Prior to joining UnitedSiC, Anup held various product development and marketing positions at Alpha and Omega Semiconductor where he was a co-founder of the Company. He is the author or co-author of nearly 100 patents through his career at Harris, Vishay Siliconix, AOS, and UnitedSiC. He received his bachelors’ degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, and his Ph.D. from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, both in Electrical Engineering.

  • Betsy Cotton
    Chief Financial Officer

    Betsy is responsible for all financial operations at UnitedSiC and is also an investor in the Company. She has held finance positions at a number of public and privately held financial concerns, beginning her career at Bankers Trust Company, followed by Phillips Brothers. From there she became Vice President at Metallgesellschaft AG, MG Trade Finance, leading their largest transaction. At Stratum she focused on financing small to mid-sized oil and gas companies. Betsy obtained her B.A. from Tufts University and her MBA from Stanford University.

  • Mari-Anne Gagliardi
    VP of Operations

    Mari-Anne is responsible for managing all aspects of Production and UnitedSiC’s supply chain. Previously, she was the director of operations at Goodrich Corp (Sensors Unlimited, Inc). She joined Sensors Unlimited, Inc. in 2000 as a manufacturing engineer, and rapidly rose to run operations at the company. Ms. Gagliardi joined the UnitedSiC team in 2010 as Director of Operations. She has previous experience at Metorex in Finland, and Princeton GammaTech here in the United States. She obtained her bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in physics from Helsinki University of Technology in Finland.

Dr. Marshall Cohen
Chairman of the Board

Dr. Cohen received his B.S. in physics from the University of Michigan and his Ph.D. in solid state physics from the University of Pennsylvania.

While at the University of Pennsylvania, he participated in pioneering work on electrically conducting polymers for which his thesis advisor was later awarded the Nobel Prize.

In 1991, Dr. Cohen co-founded Sensors Unlimited and eventually served as the President and CEO of the company.

After leaving SUI, Dr. Cohen became the President and CEO of Princeton Power Systems.

He is the author of more than 40 scientific publications and over 100 technical Presentations, holds six U.S. patents and has directed over 50 government supported R&D programs. He is an active committee chairman for the Electrical and Electronics Engineers, serves on the Board of Trustees of the Family Guidance center in Mercer County, NJ and is a member of the Board of Directors of Integrated Photonic Solutions.

Dr. Dries serves on the Princeton Graduate School Leadership Council, the Princeton Electrical Engineering Department Advisory Board, and the Duke University Engineering School Board of Visitors.

Dr. Derek Lidow

Dr. Lidow is currently the James Wei Visiting Professor in Entrepreneurship at Princeton University where he teaches the popular course “Entrepreneurial Leadership”.

Dr. Lidow was the founder, president and CEO of iSuppli Corporation, which was recently acquired by IHS. Derek founded iSuppli in order to serve the critical need for data and analysis that can improve the performance of the global electronics industry value chain. iSuppli accomplishes this by gathering and disseminating unique value-chain data, and by collaborating with its clients to use this information to make smarter business decisions.

Prior to founding iSuppli, Derek was CEO of International Rectifier (IR), a leading power semiconductor company.

He earned a Bachelor of Science degree summa cum laude in Electrical Engineering from Princeton University and a Ph.D. in Applied Physics from Stanford University as a Hertz Foundation Fellow.

Dr. Greg Olsen

Dr. Olsen received his BS Physics, a BSEE and MS Physics from Fairleigh Dickenson University, and a Ph.D. in Material Science from the University of Virginia.

In 1972, Dr. Olsen joined RCA Laboratories, and in 1984 founded EPITAXX Inc., which was acquired by Nippon Sheet Glass in 1990. He founded Sensors Unlimited in 1991, which was acquired by Finisar Corp. in 2000, repurchased in October 2002, and sold again in 2005 to Goodrich Corp.

Dr. Olsen is a Fellow of the IEEE, has been active in many technical societies and has ten patents and over 100 publications. He was the 3rd civilian to fly to the International Space Station, spending 10 days in Earth orbit in 2006, and is now President of GHO Ventures in Princeton, NJ. Dr. Olsen is also on the board of Princeton Power which specializes in turnkey power solutions.

Steve Pietkiewicz

Steve Pietkiewicz serves as Senior Vice President, Power Products Group at Analog Devices Inc. Prior to this, Mr. Pietkiewicz held the role of Vice President and General Manager of Power Products at Linear Technology Corporation beginning in 2007 and as General Manager of Power Products in 2005. From 1995 until 2005 he was a Design Engineering Manager responsible for switching regulator and linear regulator integrated circuits.

Mr. Pietkiewicz began his employment at Linear Technology as a design engineer in 1987 after serving as a design engineer at Precision Monolithics, Inc. and Analog Devices Inc.

Mr. Pietkiewicz earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley in 1981.
